Two women have died following a serious boating incident off Grand Anse Beach in Grenada on Carnival Saturday.

The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) confirmed that it is investigating the incident, which occurred on Saturday, August 8.

According to a report by Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN), eyewitnesses said the two women jumped from a vessel together and came into contact with the boat’s propeller.

GBN reported that one woman died at the scene, while the second was taken to the General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The captain of the vessel, reportedly identified as Kayak Princess, was detained as investigations continued, according to GBN.

RGPF has not released the identities of the two women or confirmed the circumstances reported by eyewitnesses.

Police said further information will be provided as it becomes available.
