Contraband Seized from POS Prison

Police and prison officers in Trinidad and Tobago have seized seven mobile phones, SIM cards, cannabis and other prohibited items during a joint search operation at the Port of Spain Prison.

The operation was carried out between 10 pm on August 13, and 1 am on August 14.

Personnel from the Deputy Commissioner of Police team and the Prison Emergency Response Unit conducted the searches as part of a coordinated exercise led by Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro, Deputy Commissioner of Police Suzette Martin and Acting Commissioner of Prisons Elvin Scanterbury.

Police said deveral phone numbers were also found written on pieces of paper during the operation.

The exercise was supervised by Assistant Commissioner of Prisons Lee Davis, Senior Superintendent of Prisons Edwards and Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Harridath, along with members of the police operations team.
