A 22-year-old soldier in Trinidad and Tobago has been charged with home invasion following an alleged break-in at a residence in south, Trinidad.

The incident happened at Samuel Cooper Trace, Fifth Company Village, Moruga, at about 1:30 am on August 21, according to police.

Police said two men allegedly forced their way into the home, assaulted and restrained several occupants before demanding drugs and firearms.

The suspects reportedly took four mobile phones and escaped in a blue Mazda 323.

Officers who responded to the scene interviewed the occupants and searched the surrounding area for CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

Following further enquiries and legal advice, Rayshaun Ferrier of Princes Town was charged with home invasion.

Police said investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
