QUEENS, New York — A 29-year-old Guyanese man has been stabbed to death while walking with his father in Queens, New York, sparking grief among members of the Guyanese community.
Sulimon Ferrier was stabbed multiple times shortly before 1 am near 173-12 Jamaica Avenue, close to Seduction Lounge and Bar.
The New York Post reported that Ferrier was walking with his father, Peter Ferrier, when they were confronted by a stranger who appeared to be looking for a fight.
Peter told the publication that the family warned the man not to cause trouble on the block, where they have lived since 2002.
“He wanted to fight somebody … and we tell him, ‘Don’t make no trouble on this block, man,’” Peter said.
He said the stranger responded with an expletive before the father and son ran across the street to get away from him.
The man then allegedly pulled a knife from his waistband and chased them, stabbing Sulimon in the chest and back.
The 29-year-old was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
