GEORGETOWN, Guyana — William “Billy” Griffith has been re-elected chair of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s (CTO) Allied Board for the 2026-2028 term, leading a five-member team tasked with strengthening collaboration between the regional tourism body and its private-sector partners.
Griffith, managing director of WCG Consulting Ltd. and chairman of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, will serve alongside returning board member Danny Cohanpour, founder and chief executive officer of Trove Tourism Development Advisors, and three newly elected members.
The new members are Amrita Bhalla, managing director of A.B Consulting; Joseph Boschulte, president and CEO of The West Indian Company Ltd. (WICO); and Christos Shepherd, founder and CEO of The Visitor Card LLC.
The election took place on October 6 during the CTO’s State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) in Guyana.
CTO Secretary-General and CEO Dona Regis-Prosper said the board’s combined expertise would help advance the organisation’s regional tourism priorities.
“A strong allied membership connects CTO’s regional priorities with the skills and resources needed to advance them,” Regis-Prosper said, adding that the team would support efforts to strengthen Caribbean tourism, develop the region’s people and expand opportunities through public-private collaboration.
Griffith brings more than four decades of experience in tourism and hospitality, including previous roles as Bermuda’s director of tourism and chief executive of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.
Cohanpour, whose work spans tourism marketing and destination development, launched the Allied Member Insights Series during his previous term to encourage knowledge sharing and engagement among members.
Bhalla brings more than 20 years of human resources and hospitality leadership experience, with a focus on workforce development and talent strategy.
Boschulte, a former US Virgin Islands tourism commissioner, has experience in destination leadership and cruise port operations.
Shepherd previously served as chief commercial officer of JetBlue Travel Products, overseeing the commercial performance of JetBlue Vacations.
The Allied Board represents the interests of CTO’s allied members on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Its responsibilities include recommending regional tourism programmes, expanding the organisation’s non-government membership and coordinating activities that connect allied and government members at major CTO events.
