PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands — A 43-year-old man has died and four others are receiving medical treatment following a collision between two vessels in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force said emergency services responded at about 8.35 pm on Friday, October 16, after reports of a collision in the channel between Dellis Cay and Parrot Cay.

Six people were aboard a vessel travelling from Belfield Landing in North Caicos to Providenciales when it collided with a Parrot Cay service boat.

Paul Harvey died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Four other people were transported to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for treatment.

The police statement did not provide further details about the sixth person aboard the vessel.

The police force extended its condolences to Harvey’s family and loved ones as investigations continue.

It also urged boat captains and other vessel operators to exercise caution, particularly during periods of reduced visibility and increased boating activity, and to maintain a proper lookout while navigating.
