SCARBOROUGH, Tobago — Tobago Carnival 2026 began with no arrests and no serious incidents reported during J’Ouvert celebrations yesterday, although a pedestrian was injured in a collision involving a marked police vehicle in Scarborough.

The celebrations ran from 4 am to 10 am, with revellers taking to the streets for the traditional display of paint, mud and oil.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said officers maintained a visible presence across the parade and competition areas, with no serious incidents or arrests recorded.

The collision occurred on Wilson Road, where a marked police vehicle travelling north allegedly struck a 40-year-old Tobago Festivals Commission employee from Bon Accord. He was taken for medical attention and is reported to have sustained minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
