Ultra Carnival continued its dominance at Sugar Mas 54, capturing the Troupe of the Year title at the St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival.
The win marks the band’s eighth consecutive Troupe of the Year title.
Ultra Carnival’s 2025 presentation, Home(AGE): A Love Letter to the Legends, earned 886 points. The presentation featured five sections: Twilight in China, Sweet Cane II, Nebula Dreams, Rodeo Royal and Fly.
The results were announced on January 2 by Shannon Hawley, chair of the St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC). Hawley revealed that Ultra Carnival’s Royal Rodeo also won Most Powerful Troupe, Section of the Year and the Queen of the Bands special prizes.
Luxe Carnival placed first runner-up with its presentation Garden of Nations, while Novali Mas finished second runner-up with Players Club. Luxe Carnival also won the award for the first parade day troupe to reveal all costumes.
Hawley commended Luxe Carnival for releasing its costumes early and said the SKNNCC is looking to set timelines for Sugar Mas 55 for bands to release their costumes. Novali Mas won King of the Bands.
Hawley deemed Sugar Mas 54 a success and said the committee is looking to build on its achievements.
“ I want to personally congratulate all of the troops for coming out.We know that it has been a challenge. And we want to really congratulate all the troops for coming out on the road and putting on such an amazing display. And attracting so many, not only locals, but so many foreigners who have descended on our shores to play mass for our Grand Parade,” she said.
