A 59-year-old man has appeared in court on January 2 charged in connection with the death of Brandon Child, which occurred on December 29, 2025, in Villa.
Police said Emmanuel Matthews, a 59-year-old labourer of Diamond, was arrested and charged with murder on December 30, 2025.
Investigators allege that Matthews caused the death of Child, a 39-year-old businessman of Villa, by stabbing him to the left side of his chest with a knife during an argument.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Matthews appeared before the Serious Offences Court, where he was not required to enter a plea and was remanded into custody.
The matter was adjourned until February 2, 2026.
