Police have identified the man found dead in a burnt car in Anguilla on January 7 as Jamaican national Romaine Ovardo Carby.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force confirmed Carey’s death in an update today. 

Carby,35, resided at in the Bad Cox.

Police suspect Carey’s death was a homicide and are continuing investigations. 

If confirmed as a homicide, it would be Anguilla’s first murder for 2026.

The police force said it is actively pursuing enquiries into the incident and has extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Police confirmed that a man remains in custody and is assisting with the investigation.
