A man charged in connection with a murder and arson case in Anguilla has been remanded into custody.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force said Krishna Baijnauth, a 49-year-old resident of George Hill, appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on January 12, 2026, where he was formally charged with murder and arson.
He was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison pending further proceedings.
The charges relate to the death of Romaine Ovardo Carby, a 37-year-old Jamaican national of South Hill.
The incident occurred on January 7 in the Bad Cox area.
Carby’s murder was the first recorded on Anguilla for 2026.
Police have not released further details surrounding the circumstances of the incident as investigations continue.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force reminded members of the public that Baijnauth is entitled to a fair trial and is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Police also cautioned against public commentary that could prejudice the judicial process, noting that Section 116(g) of the Criminal Code makes it an offence to publish or communicate material that misrepresents ongoing court proceedings or could influence the outcome of a case.
