A pensioner from Central Trinidad has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to the sexual touching of a child.

The accused, who is from Longdenville, appeared before Justice Nalini Singh in the Port of Spain High Court North on January 22, 2026.

The sentencing follows an incident in October 2023, when the young victim informed her mother that a male relative had touched her sexually.

Following a report to the police and subsequent investigations, the man was arrested and charged on April 11, 2024, by Corporal Vijay Ramkissoon, then of the Child Protection Unit.

The man was later committed to stand trial in the High Court on May 27, 2025.
