Arrest

A 16-year-old boy is among two suspects charged with the murder of 18-year-old Kaden Hanley earlier this month.

The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force said the teenager and Kirvin Morris of Haynes Smith Village, St Kitts, were charged with murder on January 24.

Hanley, of Shadwell Estate, was stabbed in the chest on January 2, 2026, during the Christmas–Carnival festivities in Basseterre, following an altercation.

He was transported to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital by members of the Special Services Unit (SSU), where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The incident prompted law enforcement to cancel the remaining street parties associated with Carnival.

Hanley was the first murder victim recorded in St Kitts and Nevis for 2026.
