Cuba, Jamaica and Honduras secured qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026 after topping their respective groups as the 2026 CONCACAF U-17 Qualifiers continued with five Group Stage matches on Wednesday.
Cuba confirmed its return to the global tournament for the first time since 1991 after a goalless draw with Belize in Group F at Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Despite producing 17 shots, Cuba was unable to find a breakthrough, with Belize goalkeeper Lucas Gallego delivering an impressive performance with five key saves.
The result proved enough for Cuba to finish first in the group and advance to the World Cup.
In the other Group F encounter, El Salvador closed its campaign with a dominant 5-1 victory over Curaçao at the same venue.
El Salvador took control early when Mayson Barillas scored inside the box in the 2nd minute.
Jefferson Perla doubled the lead in the 5th minute with a well-executed free kick, while Andrew Sorto extended the advantage in the 21st minute with a finish from a tight angle. Curaçao pulled one back in the 35th minute through Eljan Sparen, who capitalised on an errant back pass.
Sorto responded with his second goal in the 42nd minute after converting a cross from Rubén Andrade, before Jeremy Martinez sealed the result with a long-range strike in the 71st minute.
In Group G, Aruba defeated the Cayman Islands 3-1 at the Costa Rican Football Federation Field #1 in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
After a scoreless first half, Aruba broke the deadlock in the 68th minute when Jermaine Carty headed home from a corner kick.
Aruba extended its lead in the 87th minute when Jaydrick Panneflek delivered a precise cross that Born Wayneston De Nobrega converted with a header.
Moments later, De Nobrega’s long-range effort was deflected into the net for an own goal credited to Cayman Islands defender Jon-Marc Thomas in the 88th minute.
Cayman Islands captain Quinn Small converted a penalty in the 90th+5 minute to secure his team’s first goal of the tournament.
Jamaica secured Group G honours with a 3-1 victory over Canada at the same venue to book its place at the World Cup.
Jamaica opened the scoring in the 37th minute when a cross from Jamone Lyle deflected off Jahmarie Nolan and into the net via the crossbar.
Lyle added a goal of his own in the 53rd minute after driving into the penalty area and finishing.
Canada responded in the 71st minute when Van Parker converted from the penalty spot, but Jamaica sealed the win when Jaheem Bennett tapped in a cross in the 90th+2 minute.
In Group H, Honduras secured qualification with a 2-0 victory over Bermuda at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
Mike Arana opened the scoring in the 35th minute with an effort that rebounded off the crossbar from a difficult angle on the left side. Jeremy Rodriguez confirmed the result in the 82nd minute when he rose to head home and secure Honduras’ passage to Qatar.
