Search efforts are continuing for an overdue fishing vessel that departed Buccoo, Tobago earlier this month but never arrived at its destination in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard said the 29-foot fishing pirogue, Kampai, left Buccoo around 1:30 pm on March 2 bound for Union Island but failed to reach the island as expected.

Authorities said coordinated search operations are now underway involving coast guards from Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Regional partners have been conducting port and harbour checks while the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard continues aerial searches in the area.

However, officials said there have been no sightings of the vessel or its crew so far.

An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast issued by North Post Radio remains active, advising mariners in the region to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information related to the vessel.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard said it will continue coordinating with regional partners as the search for the missing boat continues.
