Six men, who had been reported missing at sea since July 14 , have been found alive after their fishing vessel was spotted in distress in waters east of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Trinidadian and Tobago Ministry of Defence said the crew of the ST VINCENT VII was located on Tuesday night by the MV Marvel Kite, a cargo ship en route to the United States, about 349 nautical miles east of Galeota, on Trinidad’s southeastern coast.

The ministry said the people aboard matched the identities of those who had been reported missing.

They were found to be in reasonably good health with no significant injuries.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard was dispatched to rendezvous with the cargo ship and transport the fishermen safely ashore.

The government thanked the crew of the MV Marvel Kite for assisting in the rescue.
