Trinidad and Tobago and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are looking to strengthen regional cooperation on security matters following a high-level meeting between officials from both countries.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Homeland Security, Roger Alexander, met with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Disaster Management and Immigration, Major St. Clair Leacock, on June 9 for discussions focused on regional security challenges.

The meeting, which took place at the ministry’s office at Tower C, International Waterfont Centre in Port of Spain, also included senior officials from both governments, as well as representatives from the CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS), including Executive Director Lt. Col. Michael Jones and Deputy Executive Director Tonya Ayow.

Officials discussed ways to deepen collaboration across the Caribbean, including improving border security measures, strengthening crime prevention efforts and developing coordinated responses to emerging security threats.

The engagement comes as CARICOM countries continue to focus on collective approaches to addressing crime and public safety concerns across the region.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to working together through stronger partnerships and shared strategies aimed at protecting Caribbean communities, borders and regional security interests.
