West Indies Oil Company Limited (WIOC) says there is no shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) despite a recent spike in cylinder purchases in Antigua and Barbuda.
In a statement, the company said it had seen a “sudden and significant increase” in LPG cylinder purchases, which it attributed to unnecessary public concern and speculation.
WIOC assured customers that there is an adequate supply of LPG and sufficient cylinder availability to meet normal demand, and advised against stockpiling.
“There is no shortage of product or cylinders,” the company said.
The company also said there have been no discussions with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda regarding any increase in LPG cylinder prices.
WIOC said it is closely monitoring the situation and has taken steps to ensure the continued reliable supply and distribution of LPG across Antigua and Barbuda and its wider Caribbean markets.
Customers experiencing localised supply or distribution issues are encouraged to contact WIOC’s call centre or via email at support@westindiesoil.com.
