An international manhunt for a 26-year-old Dominican Republic national wanted for murder has ended in Jamaica, following an intelligence-led operation in St Mary.

Jhovanny De Jesus Metz Cruz was captured by police in Annotto Bay, St Mary, on August 18.

Metz Cruz is wanted by authorities in the Dominican Republic in connection with the April 17 murder of a garbage truck driver in Santiago.

Jamaican police said officers from the St Mary Policing Division acted on intelligence that led them to a targeted operation at a location in Annotto Bay, where Metz Cruz and another Dominican Republic national were reportedly being housed by a resident.

All three men were taken into custody.
