Piarco International Airport

A woman has been arrested at Trinidad’s Piarco International Airport after allegedly being found with cocaine and a quantity of cash while attempting to board a flight to St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the incident occurred around 10:55 am on April 6, 2026, during security checks at the airport.

According to police, a Woman Estate Constable operating a scanner at a security checkpoint observed anomalies while screening the woman, who is a Trinidadian national from Carenage.

A subsequent search reportedly led to the discovery of a pink balloon strapped around the woman’s waist. The balloon contained 17 pellets with a total of 281.5 grammes of cocaine.

Further checks of her carry-on luggage allegedly uncovered US$5,189 and TT$30.

The woman was arrested in connection with the find, and investigations are ongoing.
