Come April 24, 2026, passengers travelling on the domestic airbridge between Trinidad and Tobago will no longer have separate departure areas at Piarco International Airport.
The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (the Authority) says all domestic passengers will instead be processed through a unified gate system, as the existing international gates are reconfigured into “All Gates”.
The Authority said the change is aimed at improving efficiency, reducing congestion and creating a smoother travel experience for passengers moving between Trinidad and Tobago.
Under the new arrangement, domestic travellers will also have access to a wider range of shops, restaurants and duty-paid retail outlets across both the eastern and western wings of the terminal, covering Gates 1 to 14.
Security processing is also being expanded. A centralised security checkpoint will now handle all departing passengers, supported by additional screening lanes and upgraded equipment to improve passenger flow.
Travellers are reminded of the 3-1-1 rule at security checkpoints, which limits liquids, gels and aerosols in carry-on baggage to containers of 100ml or less, all placed in a single clear, quart-sized resealable bag. Exemptions apply to medication and baby food.
The Authority said the changes form part of a wider programme of upgrades at the airport aimed at improving the passenger experience while maintaining compliance with international civil aviation standards.
It also confirmed it is working with the Tobago House of Assembly, Caribbean Airlines, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition, with meetings scheduled in the coming week.
