Curaçao welcomed a record number of stayover visitors during the first six months of 2026, with arrivals surpassing 437,000 for the first time in the destination’s history.
According to the Curaçao Tourist Board, the island recorded 437,086 stayover visitors between January and June, a nine per cent increase over the 399,967 arrivals during the same period in 2025.
The strong first-half performance was supported by another month of growth in June, when Curaçao welcomed 62,867 stayover visitors, up nine per cent from the 57,413 recorded in June last year.
Visitors generated 497,426 visitor nights during the month, a 12 per cent increase year-on-year, while the average length of stay rose to 7.9 nights. Just over half of visitors stayed in resort hotels, with the remainder opting for alternative accommodation.
The Netherlands remained Curaçao’s largest source market in June, accounting for 20,029 visitors, a 22 per cent increase compared with the same month last year. Dutch visitors stayed an average of 12.1 nights.
The United States was the island’s second-largest market with 16,070 visitors, although arrivals fell by 6%. The Curaçao Tourist Board attributed the decline largely to travel patterns linked to the FIFA World Cup, saying increased outbound travel by Curaçao residents used some of the available airline seat capacity that would normally support inbound traffic from the US.
Colombia continued its strong growth, recording 7,144 visitors in June, up 24 per cent from a year earlier, making it the island’s third-largest source market.
For the first half of the year, the Netherlands remained Curaçao’s biggest market with 134,613 visitors, representing 31 per cent of all stayover arrivals. The United States followed with 116,952 visitors (27 per cent), while Canada contributed 31,386 visitors (seven per cent). Colombia also accounted for seven per cent of arrivals with 28,817 visitors, while Brazil and Argentina rounded out the leading markets with 20,488 and 19,062 visitors respectively.
The Curaçao Tourist Board said the results reflect sustained demand across its key international markets and provide a strong foundation for continued tourism growth during the remainder of 2026.
