Police in St Kitts and Nevis are investigating a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of a Ross University School of Medicine student in Frigate Bay late Thursday night.
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) identified the victim as Victoria McElwee, a resident of Half Moon Bay Villas in Frigate Bay on St Kitts.
According to preliminary investigations, the crash occurred sometime between 11:30 pm and midnight along Half Moon Bay Road.
Police said her vehicle reportedly struck a curb wall, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The vehicle then flipped several times before crashing into a building at Half Moon Bay Villas.
Authorities said the vehicle eventually came to rest on its roof with McElwee trapped inside.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Crime Scene Unit processed the area and collected items considered to be of evidential value as investigations continue.
Police said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
