Victoria Summer McElwee, the 24-year-old Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine student who died in a vehicular accident in St Kitts last month, has been laid to rest.

According to an obituary published by Johnson Funeral Home in Louisiana, McElwee’s funeral service was held on June 15, followed by her burial at Highland Memory Gardens.

McElwee, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, died on May 22 after the jeep she was driving crashed along Half Moon Bay Road in St Kitts.

The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) said the crash happened sometime between 11:30 pm and midnight. Police reported that McElwee’s vehicle struck a curb wall, causing her to lose control before the vehicle overturned several times and collided with a building at Half Moon Bay Villas.

The vehicle eventually came to rest on its roof, with McElwee trapped inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash remain ongoing.
