Story updated at on June 7, 2026 at 11:24am: US Virgin Islands police have identified the victims of this morning’s fatal shooting at a St. Croix bar as Wahili James and Samuel Rivera.

The men’s identities were confirmed by family members, according to police.

Authorities said James, 31, and Rivera, 34, were shot following a verbal altercation at Luna Bar in Peter’s Rest shortly before 4 a.m.

A minor and a 30-year-old man were also injured during the incident.

The killings bring the US Virgin Islands’ homicide count for 2026 to 16.

Investigations into the matter is ongoing.

Two people were killed in a shooting at a bar on St Croix in the United States Virgin Islands early Sunday morning, according to police.

The incident occurred at the Luna Bar, where officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 4 am.

In a brief statement, the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) said it received reports of a shooting with possible gunshot victims at the establishment.
