Trinidad and Tobago basketball player Malique Lewis is now part of the Milwaukee Bucks after the franchise acquired the draft rights to the 21-year-old forward in a three-team trade.

Lewis was selected 60th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards before his rights were moved to Milwaukee in a deal that also included the Orlando Magic.

The San Fernando native becomes just the third player born in Trinidad and Tobago to be drafted into the NBA, following in the footsteps of Ken Charles and Carl Herrera.

The 6-foot-8 forward spent last season with the South East Melbourne Phoenix in Australia’s National Basketball League, where he appeared in 31 games and made 13 starts after withdrawing from the 2025 NBA Draft.

Lewis averaged 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 45.2 per cent from the field during his second NBL season. He recorded nine double-digit scoring performances, including a career highlight 23-point outing.

Before moving to Australia, Lewis began his professional career in Spain’s top basketball competition, the Liga ACB, with Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in 2021.

During his two seasons in Spain, Lewis featured in 22 games and averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per game.
