The Guyana Amazon Warriors and the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) will donate all proceeds from ticket sales for this year’s tournament final to humanitarian and educational relief efforts for families affected by the MV Barima tragedy.
The announcement was made today, with organisers saying the funds will support survivors as well as families who lost loved ones in the maritime disaster.
Sir Clive Lloyd, chairman of the Global Super League, said the tragedy had deeply affected not only the people of Guyana but also the players and support staff taking part in the tournament.
“Our prayers continue to go out to those grieving profound loss and those brave responders whose work continues,” Lloyd said.
He added that the decision to dedicate proceeds from the final was intended to provide meaningful support to those impacted by the tragedy.
The ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League final is scheduled to be played on August 1 at the National Stadium.
