It was another difficult day in the pool for Caribbean swimmers at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, with only three athletes progressing beyond the heats.

Jamaica’s Sabrina Lyn booked a place in the women’s 100m breaststroke semi-finals after finishing 12th overall in 1:09.11, making her the only Caribbean swimmer to advance in the event.

In the men’s 50m freestyle, Bahamians Lamar Taylor and Marvin Johnson also progressed. Taylor qualified seventh overall after clocking 22.20 seconds, while Johnson secured the 16th and final semi-final spot in 23.02.

The region narrowly missed out on another finalist in the women’s 200m freestyle.

Bahamian Joanna Evans finished second in her heat in 1:59.81 to place ninth overall, leaving her as the first reserve for the final and the highest-ranked Caribbean swimmer in the event.

Also in the women’s 200m freestyle, Cayman Islands swimmer Kyra Rabess was seventh in her heat in 2:05.92, just ahead of Grenada’s Tilly Collymore, who finished eighth in 2:06.23. Cayman Islands’ Harper Barrowman won her heat in 2:06.84, while Barbados’ Toria Alleyne claimed victory in the opening heat in 2:14.75. Dominica’s Jasmine Schofield finished second in her heat in 2:19.61, and Belize’s Davia Richardson placed eighth in hers with a time of 2:17.66.

The Caribbean also fell short of the semi-finals in the men’s 100m butterfly, although two swimmers finished as reserves. Cayman Islands’ Daniel Kish placed 17th overall in 54.78 seconds to become the first reserve, while Bahamian Marvin Johnson was 18th in 55.15 to earn the second reserve spot.

Also competing were Bermuda’s Elijah Daley (19th, 55.36), Antigua and Barbuda’s Ethan Stubbs-Green (22nd, 55.54), Grenada’s Zackary Gresham (23rd, 55.77), Bahamas’ Emmanuel Gadson (28th, 56.55), Cayman Islands’ Elijah Bain (31st, 58.50), Barbados’ Victor Ashby (32nd, 59.22) and St. Kitts and Nevis’ Jonathan Essien (33rd, 1:00.04).

In the men’s 50m freestyle, Cayman Islands’ James Allison finished 19th in 23.27, Antigua and Barbuda’s Jadon Wuilliez was 27th in 23.70, Cayman Islands’ Daniel Kish placed 31st in 23.89, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Alexander Joachim was 33rd in 23.98, Barbados’ Christien Kelly finished 50th in 24.83, Guyana’s Delroy Tyrrell was 52nd in 24.98, Turks and Caicos Islands’ Ethan Gardiner placed 56th in 26.08, while Anguilla’s Josiah Minott and Jonathan Irizarry finished 67th and 68th, respectively.
