Trinidadian cricket great Dwayne Bravo and legendary commentator Ian Bishop have been named the first two inductees into the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Hall of Fame.
Bravo becomes the inaugural player inducted, while Bishop has been selected in the non-player category for his contribution to the tournament since its launch in 2013.
The pair will be formally inducted at the inaugural CPL Hall of Fame Gala Dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Barbados on September 15, 2026.
Bravo is one of the most decorated players in CPL history, winning five titles as a player.
He lifted the trophy with Trinbago Knight Riders in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020, and with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2021. He later added a sixth CPL title as head coach of Trinbago Knight Riders in 2025.
The Trinidadian all-rounder won more than 15 T20 titles during an 18-year career and became the first bowler to reach 500 wickets in the format.
He is currently the third-highest wicket-taker in CPL history with 129 wickets.
“It’s a real honour to be the first player inducted into the CPL Hall of Fame,” Bravo said.
“This tournament has been a huge part of my career, and I will always treasure every title I’ve won here.”
Bishop, meanwhile, will be recognised for his impact as one of the most recognisable voices in Caribbean cricket.
The former West Indies fast bowler has been a prominent CPL commentator since its early years and has helped bring some of the tournament’s biggest moments to audiences around the world.
Among his most memorable calls came during the 2016 ICC World T20 final, when West Indies batter Carlos Brathwaite hit four consecutive sixes to defeat England.
Bishop’s famous call — “Carlos Brathwaite! Remember the name!” — became synonymous with the dramatic finish.
Bishop said being part of the inaugural Hall of Fame class was an honour.
“To be inducted into this inaugural CPL Hall of Fame class, and to be recognised for the stories I’ve had the privilege of telling, is an honour I’ll carry with me always,” he said.
CPL CEO Pete Russell said Bravo and Bishop had been central to the tournament’s story since its inception.
The gala will bring together players, coaches, broadcasters, franchise owners and partners who have contributed to the CPL over the past decade.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation, supporting its efforts to raise awareness and improve prostate cancer testing across the Caribbean.
