PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — Winair has successfully achieved registration under both the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and the IATA Standard Safety Assessment (ISSA) programmes, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s commitment to operational safety and regional connectivity.

With this achievement, Winair says it is currently the only airline worldwide holding both IOSA and ISSA registrations concurrently.

The two registrations apply across Winair’s different aircraft operations. 

The airline’s ATR 42 operations are covered by IOSA, while its DHC-6 Twin Otter operations are assessed under ISSA. Together, the registrations demonstrate that Winair’s operations meet the applicable IATA safety standards across its fleet.

The achievement follows an extensive preparation process that began in early 2024, involving employees across Winair’s flight operations, cabin operations, ground operations, maintenance, cargo, security and organisational management teams.

The dual registrations supports Winair’s ambitions to expand its network of partnerships with international airlines.

Such partnerships could provide passengers with greater access to seamless, multidestination journeys connecting the Caribbean with Europe, North America, South America and beyond.

The airline added the achievement reinforces its focus on providing safe and reliable connections while creating new opportunities for passengers travelling throughout the Caribbean and to international destinations.
