A 58-year-old man has died and six others were seriously injured following a motor vehicle collision along the Lowmans Bay Public Road on January 12.

The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said the crash occurred at approximately 8:30am and claimed the life of Stephen Bulze, a resident of Barrouallie.

This is country’s first road fatality for 2026.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a vehicle owned by a private electrical company was travelling in the direction of Lowmans Bay when it reportedly experienced mechanical difficulties and collided with a parked crane.

Six male workers, ranging in age from 21 to 54, sustained serious injuries in the incident and were transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

Police said a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing.

The RSVGPF extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and urged motorists to exercise caution, remain attentive on the roads and show courtesy to all road users.
