A 64-year-old American man has died while vacationing in the Cayman Islands after experiencing difficulties while snorkelling.

According to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Force (RCIPF), the incident occurred in waters off Eden Rock on South Church Street. The man reportedly lost consciousness while snorkelling and was assisted to shore by members of the public.

CPR was administered until emergency responders arrived. He was transported to the Anthony Eden Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The man’s identity has not been released, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
