Three Barbadian men have been charged after authorities intercepted a fishing vessel carrying hundreds of kilogrammes of cocaine during a joint maritime operation off the island.

The Barbados Police Service Narcotics Unit charged Sylverton Lewis Clarke, 55, of Emerald Park East, St Philip; Ronaldo Jabari Carrington, 33, of Lower Burney, Haggatt Hall, St Michael; and Ryan Adrian Kelly-Prescod, 39, of Jones Road, My Lords Hill, St Michael, with possession, intent to supply and trafficking.

Police said the arrests followed a coordinated operation involving the French Navy, Regional Security System, the Police Narcotics Unit and the Barbados Defence Force Coast Guard Unit.

Authorities intercepted a Barbadian-registered fishing vessel on January 28, 2026, off the coast of Barbados. A search of the vessel reportedly uncovered 676 kilogrammes of cocaine with an estimated street value of BBD $33,830,000 (US$16,812,633.80).

Clarke, Carrington and Kelly-Prescod appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee in District ‘A’ Criminal Court No. 2 on February 3, 2026. They were not required to enter pleas to the indictable offences and were remanded to the Barbados Prison Service at Dodds.

The men are scheduled to return to court on March 3, 2026.
