Trinidad and Tobago has chosen Nikhil Alleyne and Emma Gatcliffe as the country’s flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy.

Both athletes, who compete in Alpine Skiing (Giant Slalom and Slalom), are making their Olympic debuts.

The opening ceremony will take place across two locations on February 6, with Alleyne, 21, carrying the flag at the Bormio Cluster and Gatcliffe, 20, at the Cortina Cluster.

“This honour represents far more than individual recognition. It reflects years of sacrifice, perseverance and belief, and stands as a tribute to the entire TeamTTO family — teammates, coaches, support staff, loved ones and citizens at home,” the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee said in a social media post announcing the flag bearers.

Trinidad and Tobago is sending its largest-ever contingent to the Winter Olympics. Alongside Gatcliffe and Alleyne in Alpine Skiing, the team includes Axel Brown, Shakeel John, De Aundre John, Xaverri Williams, and Micah Moore competing in the two- and four-man bobsleigh events.

The athletes will be supported by a team of coaches and officials, including Gabriel Masneri, Head Coach of Female Alpine Skiing; James Gatcliffe, Assistant Coach of Female Alpine Skiing; Dane Spencer, Head Coach of Male Alpine Skiing; and Vivaan Alleyne, Assistant Coach (Male Alpine).

Officials accompanying the team include Lee Johnston, Head Coach, Brown as Bobsleigh Mechanic, Physiotherapist Jenny Birch, and Chef de Mission Lovie Santana-Duke.
