Anguillan police have ruled out foul play in the death of a 50-year-old man who died during a fishing expedition last month.

In a statement, the Royal Anguilla Police Force said the conclusion was based on autopsy results, medical findings and information gathered during investigations.

“The death is being treated as a tragic marine-related incident,” police said.

The man, who is from Bad Cox, was free diving for crayfish on January 29, 2026, shortly after 7 pm when he was struck by a fish while underwater.

He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have not released the man’s identity.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force extended condolences to the man’s family and urged mariners and fisherfolk to exercise caution while at sea and remain aware of potential dangers posed by marine life.
