The full Cabinet of Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has been sworn into office during a ceremony at CARIFESTA House on February 16.
The ceremony formally installed the ministers who will serve in Mottley’s administration following her party’s decisive election victory.
Deputy Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw was sworn in as Minister of the Environment, National Beautification and Fisheries, as well as Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly.
Senator Jerome X Walcott was appointed Senior Minister coordinating Social and Environmental Policy with responsibility for Reform of the Social Sector, while Kerrie Symmonds will serve as Minister of Energy, Business Development and Commerce and Senior Minister coordinating the Productive Sector.
Kirk Humphrey was sworn in as Minister of Transport and Works and Senior Minister coordinating Infrastructure, while Senator Christopher Sinckler will serve as Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
Ryan Straughn takes up the post of Minister of Finance, while Kay McConney was appointed Minister of the Public Service and Talent Development. Indar Weir was sworn in as Minister of Public and Private Investment, and Adrian Forde will serve as Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs.
Ian Gooding-Edghill was appointed Minister of Tourism and International Transport, while Colin Jordan will serve as Minister of Labour, Social Security and the Third Sector. Christopher Gibbs was named Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance.
Senator Lisa Cummins will serve as Minister of Health and Wellness and Leader of Government Business in the Senate. Gregory Nicholls was appointed Minister of Home Affairs and Information, while Michael Lashley KC will serve as Minister of Legal Affairs and Criminal Justice.
Chad Blackman was sworn in as Minister of Education Transformation, Sandra Husbands as Minister of Technological and Vocational Training, and Dr Shantal Munro-Knight as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security.
Charles Griffith was appointed Minister of Sports and Community Empowerment, while Senator Jonathan Reid was named Minister of Innovation, Industry, Science and Technology.
Marsha Caddle will serve as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for Economic Affairs and Planning, while Trevor Prescod was appointed Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for Pan African Affairs and Heritage.
Davidson Ishmael was sworn in as Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, while Dr Rommel Springer will serve as Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport and Works. Senator Shane Archer was appointed Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for Youth and Culture.
Government senators are expected to be installed when Parliament opens on February 20. They include Reginald Farley as President of the Senate and Elizabeth Thompson as Deputy President of the Senate, along with Senators John King, Roshanna Trim, Ramon Alleyne, Kamisha Benjamin and Janelle Odle.
