A 27-year-old minibus operator in Trinidad has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault of a Licensing Officer.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said officers on mobile patrol responded to a report of an assault around 10:30 am on March 9 along the Southern Main Road, Curepe, near the East Grove Housing Development.
According to police, PC Ali and PC Harding, who are attached to the Las Lomas Police Post, arrived at the scene and spoke with the Licensing Officer, who reported that he was allegedly assaulted while carrying out his duties.
The officer told police the suspect struck him twice in the face with his fist and later chased the Licensing Authority vehicle with a wheel spanner before leaving the scene.
Police said enquiries were conducted and officers later went to the Caroni Licensing Office, where the suspect was identified and arrested.
The suspect, of Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, was taken along with the Licensing Officer to the St Joseph Police Station, where enquiries into the matter are continuing.
