Grenada Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has appointed Ron Redhead as Minister for Digital Transformation and Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister.

The appointment gives Redhead responsibility for helping to steer Grenada’s digital development, including improving digital services, expanding access to technology and supporting innovation across the country.

Redhead, who represents St George North-East, previously served as Minister of State with responsibility for Youth, Sports and Culture.

According to the Government Information Service, the move forms part of the government’s efforts to modernise public services, improve connectivity and position Grenada as a more technology-driven economy.

Announcing the appointment, Mitchell said Redhead’s leadership would be important as the government continues work to modernise services and create new opportunities through technology.

“Hon. Ron Redhead brings a strong vision and youthful energy to public service. His leadership in the Digital Transformation portfolio will be pivotal as we continue to modernise government services, bridge the digital divide, and create new opportunities for economic growth through technology,” the Prime Minister said.

Redhead thanked the Prime Minister for the confidence placed in him and said he was looking forward to taking on the new role.

“I am honoured to serve as Minister for Digital Transformation at this important time. The digital transformation of our nation is essential to our future prosperity,” he said.

He added that he intends to work closely with government agencies, businesses and community stakeholders to ensure more people can benefit from advances in technology.
