The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) is investigating a fatal shooting in Blowing Point that has pushed the territory’s murder toll to six for 2026.

Police said officers responded to the incident on July 10, where an adult male was found with fatal gunshot injuries. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

Officers have cordoned off the area as investigators process the scene and begin what police described as the early stages of their investigation.

The latest killing follows a series of homicides across the island this year.

Anguilla’s first murder of 2026 occurred on January 7, when 37-year-old Jamaican national Romaine Ovardo Carby was found dead in the Bad Cox area after what police described as a violent incident involving his vehicle, which was later set on fire. 

Forty-nine-year-old Krishna Baijnauth was subsequently charged with Carby’s murder and arson.

Three days later, 19-year-old Clashawn Gumbs was shot and killed near a Chinese restaurant in Blowing Point. Police later offered a reward of up to US$10,000 for information leading to an arrest, charge and conviction in the case.

On February 14, 26-year-old Shane Quaishan Hughes of Blowing Point was gunned down in South Hill after police responded to reports of multiple gunshots.

The territory’s fourth and fifth murders occurred on April 27, when 16-year-old Niquan Ruan and 26-year-old Junior Alexander Astacio were shot and killed in Island Harbour.

According to local news outlet Anguilla Focus, the British Overseas Territory recorded 11 murders in 2025, with no charges brought in any of those cases.
