Saint Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has been hospitalised after experiencing what was described as mild discomfort, nausea and a headache.

The Cabinet Secretariat said Drew went to the Joseph N. France General Hospital on August 30 where he was admitted for observation and medical evaluation.

A team of doctors and specialists at the hospital monitored the Prime Minister for about 18 hours and carried out diagnostic tests and reviews.

According to the Cabinet Secretariat, doctors are satisfied with his condition and have confirmed that he is awake, alert and stable.

However, as a precaution, Drew’s medical team has recommended that he travel overseas for specialised observation and further monitoring.

Arrangements are being made for the Prime Minister to be transported abroad.

The government has asked the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis to keep Drew in their prayers as he undergoes further medical care.

It also assured the public that the business of government is continuing without interruption.

A further update on Drew’s condition is expected at 7 pm on August 31.
