Agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) have foiled an attempt to ship a large quantity of cocaine from the Dominican Republic to Spain.

The operation was uncovered during an interdiction exercise carried out at the Las Americas Airport in Santo Domingo on April 11 as authorities intensified joint efforts to combat international drug trafficking.

According to officials, the drugs were concealed in cardboard boxes prepared for export. In total, 735 sheets of the cocaine were seized.

The manifest showed the boxes were supposed to be received by a man who lives in Carrer de Carreras, Barcelona Spain.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into those responsible for the attempted shipment.
