A female municipal police officer was found dead at the San Fernando Municipal Police Station in south Trinidad, and a large quantity of firearms was discovered missing from the facility’s storeroom.
The officer has been identified as Anusha Eversley, an acting corporal with the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police Service.
According to reports, Eversley was last seen alive around 11 pm on April 18 in the charge room area of the station at King’s Wharf, Lady Hailes Avenue.
Her body was discovered around 4:40am on April 19 by officers who arrived to begin the day shift.
The officers found the station in darkness and, after turning on the lights, observed what appeared to be blood coming from the corporal quarters. They also realised that the storeroom had been left open.
A subsequent check revealed that a significant number of firearms and ammunition were missing.
The Trinidad Express reported that the missing items include approximately 52 Glock pistols, six shotguns, four MPX-type firearms, and more than 4,000 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Eversley’s partially clothed body was later discovered on a mattress inside the quarters. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The station has since been placed under lockdown as investigations continue.
