A 69-year-old American tourist died after reportedly becoming unresponsive while snorkelling in waters off Bimini on Sunday, police said.

According to preliminary reports, officers at the Alice Town Police Station were alerted shortly after 12:20 pm by a ship agent that the male passenger had been transported to a local clinic for medical treatment.

Police said the man had reportedly become unresponsive while snorkelling.

Officers responded and launched an investigation into the incident.
