Nearly 800 students across Dominica are preparing to sit the annual Grade Six National Assessment (G6NA) scheduled for May 28 and 29.

The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence said a total of 792 students — including 380 girls and 412 boys — have been registered to write the exams at 62 centres islandwide.

Examinations will begin at 7:45 am on both days and will be administered in a paper-based format.

Students will sit Language Arts, Social Sciences and Composition on Thursday, while Mathematics and Science and Technology examinations are scheduled for Friday.

Education officials said extensive preparations have been carried out in collaboration with teachers and school administrators to ensure the assessments run smoothly.

The ministry said stakeholder guidelines have already been distributed and training sessions conducted for examination supervisors ahead of the two-day exercise.

Officials also acknowledged the support of the Ministry of National Security in helping to secure examination materials.

Parents and guardians are being urged to avoid school compounds while exams are in progress to help maintain a quiet and distraction-free environment for students.

The ministry also encouraged families to ensure children get enough rest and relaxation in the days leading up to the assessments.

The ministry extended best wishes to all candidates sitting the examinations.
