Two people were killed and six others survived after a US military strike on a vessel suspected of being involved in drug trafficking operations in the Caribbean.

The strike took place on June 21 and was carried out by Joint Task Force Southern Spear under the direction of US Southern Command commander General Francis Donovan.

In a statement, US Southern Command said intelligence showed the vessel was travelling along known narco-trafficking routes and was involved in illegal drug operations.

The two men killed were described by US authorities as “narco-terrorists.”

Six other men survived the strike, and the US Coast Guard was alerted to assist with search and rescue efforts.

The US military said no American personnel were injured during the operation.

Since September 2025, US airstrip in the Caribbean has killed more than 130 people. Among them are believed to be nationals of Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia.
