A 57-year-old visitor from the United Kingdom has died after being struck by a vessel while snorkeling off Holetown Beach in Barbados.

Police said the incident happened around 12:45 pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026, off the coast of Holetown, St James.

Initial investigations revealed that a Barbadian-registered vessel was travelling from the direction of Bridgetown towards Speightstown when it collided with a man who was snorkeling in the area.

Emergency personnel responded and transported the man to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Richard Howes of the United Kingdom.

Police at the Holetown Station are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
